The project involves subsidising of loans to the national adaptation programmes of action on climate change in 5 Sahelian countries (Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Senegal, and Togo). The aim of the project is to strengthen the capacity of the WADB in terms of financing and management of programmes related to climate change aimed at reducing the vulnerability of the people affected by the challenges of climate change and helping to address better its negative effects.
The aim of the technical assistance is to strengthen the capacity of the WADB to address, through rapid and efficient procedures, the credit applications to adapt to climate change and to increase its involvement in this field to the benefit of countries members of the WAEMU and coherently with their National Adaptation Programmes of Action on Climate Change (NAPAs).
