The objective of the Support Project to the Management of the Economy (PAGE) is to improve efficiency of macro-economic, financial and administrative management of the country through reinforcement of reliability and transparency by setting up procedures and suitable mechanisms of control.
The recommended reforms, which were thereafter supported by the results of the Review of Public Expenditure, include the following concerns:
• To improve the macro-economic management tools thanks to the availability of statistical data issued on a regular and reliable basis;
• To reinforce transparency and discipline in the management of public finances, at the level of both expenditure and revenue;
• To introduce reforms of public procurement contracts and support to the reorganization of public enterprises;
• To support control structures such as the Inspectorate General of Finance, the Audit Office, and the media.
