TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE IN FISH QUALITY CONTROL IN YEMEN

The overall objective as stated in the Financing Agreement is to support poverty reduction and economic growth in Yemen though the increase of productivity and the improvement of quality and competitiveness of the Yemeni fish products without affecting the stock reserve.
The purposes of the quality control component are:
• To maximise income for coastal communities from fish catches by (i) enabling fishermen to land and market prime raw material and (ii) facilitating fish exporters to add maximum value to products before exporting.
• To lower health risks for Yemeni, European and other consumers by ensuring a continuous chill chain from capture to the final consumer and through industrial good practise enforced by a strict quality assurance regime.
