SUPPORT PROJECT OF THE IDA/GEF TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAMME PHASEIII – SURVEY ON TOURISM OF VISITORS AND COMPANIES IN PROTECTED AREAS

The global objective of the consultation is to design and conduct surveys on tourism in protected areas of Madagascar.
The global objective will be reached by the achievement of the following specific objectives:
i. To design, test and conduct surveys of tourists that have visited one or more protected areas (terrestrial and/or maritime)
ii. To design, test and conduct surveys of tourism companies.
iii. To strengthen capacity within National Institutions to replicate the work
The partial satellite account of tourism (SAT) will facilitate the production of information on:
i. The contribution of tourism in protected areas to GDP.
ii. Tourism employment in protected areas.
iii. The importance and the essential features of tourism in protected areas
iv. Data on spending and consumption of tourists for tourism in protected areas.
