The Project of Food Security Improvement and Support to the Starting in the Matam Area (ASAMM) has been given the following specific objectives:
- Territorial Development rebalancing between the delta and the middle and upper valley of the Senegal River;
- increase and diversification of agricultural production by improving the productive potential in a context of climate change adaptation;
- contribution to food security at the regional level and more generally at the national levell;
- economic development of communal territories by producing hydro-agricultural infrastructures, developing the agricultural and pastoral lands, opening up areas of production, processing and marketing of products
- fight against poverty through improved income of the disadvantaged and women
