FEASIBILITY STUDIES ON AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION AND LIVESTOCK FARMING

The general objective of the project which includes this study is to improve competitiveness of the sugar sector in Congo by implementing the strategy already prepared regarding the restructuring of the sector and the economic and social development of the region, while ensuring respect of the environment.

To allow the sugar production region to end its dependence on sugar monoproduction in order to avoid the possible consequences of cyclical crisis in the sector, the study aims at facilitating the implementation of the axis n°4 of the national strategy: “Economic diversification of the sugar production region”, by providing the potential investors with a bank for bankable projects in the agro-industrial sector.

This bank of projects will be the result of feasibility studies on agricultural productions (cereals, tuber crops), livestock farming, fish farming, market gardening, according to a zoning of the sugar production area: Bouenza, Niari, Lekoumou. These studies must inventory the different speculations exploited or with a strong growth potential in the various districts and formulate recommendations to build and/or organize production sectors according to the potential of small regions (production areas).
