IMPLEMENTATION OF THE WATER AND IRRIGATION MANAGEMENT COMPONENT OF THE AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

The objective of the Agricultural Development Project is to extend productive use of irrigated lands in the valley of the Sourou to increase the volume and value of agricultural production in  intervention areas. In this context, the project is designed so as to increase the deployment of agricultural and rural incomes and improve the competitiveness of the economies of rural regions of the Mouhoun loop of Hauts Basin, Cascades and the South West and to promote the Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in river basins of the Mouhoun-Sourou and the Comoe while providing increased availability of rural credit in all intervention project areas.
The Agricultural Development Project is  organized around 3 components:
• Water and  Irrigation  management (2,100 ha in total control of  water);
• Diversification and intensification of irrigated agricultural production;
• Improving access to finance in rural area.
